Phil Anselmo's deep, growling vocals sound like something out of The Exorcist (the album title is taken from that film), and Darrell Abbott's punchy riffs on "Dimebag" sound just as obsessive. Abbott was born on this day in 1966, and we commemorate the late guitarist with the double-platinum VULGAR DISPLAY OF POWER - arguably Pantera's finest hour and certainly one of the most influential metal albums of the '90s. "A searing, crushing collection of brutal riffs, crushing speed and raspy, wailing vocals, 'Vulgar Display of Power' is the record that established Pantera as the most vicious and popular heavy metal band of the early '80s."
