After three studio albums and five years of touring, the band released their first live album. The original LP "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" features two songs from the debut album, the title track from 1979's "Bomber", five songs from 1979's "Overkill" and three songs from "Ace Of Spades". The song "Motörhead" was released as a single and became the band's biggest hit to date, reaching number six in the UK charts. With the exception of "Iron Horse/Born To Lose", which comes from a 1980 concert, "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" was recorded at concerts in Leeds and Newcastle during the Short Sharp Pain In The Neck Tour. Motörhead first reached number one in the UK charts with this album. The album is listed in the 1001 "Albums You Must Hear Before You Die" book. "No Sleep 'Til Hammersmith" was originally released on 27 June 1981 and is Motörhead's most important live album. Lemmy said of the album: "I knew it would be the best live because we really are a live band. You can't listen to the record and know what we're about. You have to see us live." Upon release, this legendary album went to number one and was their first and only number one album in the UK, as well as their most significant live album.
