At the latest since the release of the mini-album "Skeletons & Majesties", rumours have been circulating that Gamma Rays will be cooking healthy live food in the studio. Every good recipe is well thought out, and so the German flagship metallers around former Helloween member Kai Hansen let it cook longer before Hanseatics unleashes an official piece of "power metal live" on our turntables. "Skeletons & Majesties Live", which is the working title - the final title had not been decided at the time of going to press - of the more than two-hour live show with the North Germans, is absolutely compelling. On the quartet's last European tour, the concerts at Pratteln's Z7 (CH) and at the memorable Zech in Bochum were so good that they had to be preserved for posterity. "Skeletons & Majesties Live" is Gamma Ray's first decent live video, and the whole thing is enhanced by some nice interviews and behind-the-scenes footage that is probably no more entertaining for the band than for the likeable Hamburgers. Now the foursome, in their own way, show how the charm and joy of playing with the utmost professionalism can be realized in a remarkable live product.
