James LaBrie perfectly characterizes the new Dream Theater album here. "A View From The Top Of The World" is the fifteenth studio effort from the New York progressive metal icons. But even after hundreds of shows, 15 million records sold and nearly four decades together, Dream Theater are still looking forward. Their collective gaze never wavers from the future. LaBrie (vocals), John Petrucci (guitar), Jordan Rudess (keys), John Myung (bass) and Mike Mangini (drums) continue to explore new territory in the same spirit of sonic adventure. For "A View From The Top Of The World" they recorded seven tracks, several of which exceed the ten-minute mark and are equally imbued with eloquent arrangements, groovy guitars and big melodies. With the title track this time around, there's another monumental twenty-minute piece. Recording took place at the recently established DTHQ (Dream Theater Headquarters). "We just enjoy playing our instruments. That never goes away. I love creating, writing and exercising that part of my mind. We've been doing that for a long time and we don't take it for granted. Every time we get together, we know we can't let ourselves or our fans down, so we try harder," says John Petrucci, who produced the record with James "Jimmy T" Meslin. Mixing and mastering was done by Andy Sneap. The cover art is by Hugh Syme (Rush, Iron Maiden, Stone Sour), who has worked for Dream Theater several times before. "A View From The Top Of The World" is available as a standard CD, as a double LP including CD and also as a limited edition double LP on coloured vinyl and CD exclusively for jpc. There is also a limited Deluxe edition with double CD and Blu-ray disc and a limited Deluxe box with double CD, double LP, Blu-ray disc, slip mat, cap, enamel key ring, poster, art cards and certificate of authenticity in a beautiful box. The Blu-ray includes a 5.1 surround sound mix of the entire album and the documentary "Digging For A Spark - A View From Inside DTHQ".
