The eight songs, recorded during a period of intense musical and personal growth for the band, are divided equally between the two duos, with Brendan singing the first half and Lisa the second. Q Magazine described the album at the time as a combination of "gorgeous vocals, ethereal church choirs, sweeping strings and a booklet of ethnic music: Middle Eastern, Indian, Moorish, anywhere but the East End of London, where the pair live".
