Footwork

Footwork is a style of house dance / street dance that originated in Chicago in the late 1980s and 1990s. It began as a dance to house music on the west side of Chicago in the mid/late 1980s, eventually spreading to the south side and inspiring its own genre of house music. Footwork music is a style of electronic dance music derived from ghetto house with elements of hip hop that first emerged in Chicago in the mid-1990s. The musical style evolved from the earlier fast-paced rhythms of juke and ghetto, a change popularized by RP Boo. It can draw on the fast rhythms and sub-bass frequencies of drum & bass. Tracks also often contain heavily syncopated samples from rap, pop and other sources, and often hover around 160 beats per minute.
