Influential American Punk Rock Band

Wipers were a pioneering punk rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in 1977 by guitarist and vocalist Greg Sage. The band is often credited with laying the groundwork for the Pacific Northwest's grunge movement that emerged in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Wipers' music was characterized by Sage's distinctive guitar playing and philosophical lyrics, as well as their raw and emotive sound. Despite being relatively underground throughout their career, Wipers gained a cult following and influenced many notable bands, including Nirvana, who covered several of their songs.
