The Red Garland Trio was a renowned jazz group led by pianist Red Garland, who was celebrated for his distinctive block chord technique and lyrical style. Born William McKinley Garland Jr. on May 13, 1923, in Dallas, Texas, Red Garland established himself as a prominent figure in the jazz scene during the 1950s and 1960s. Before forming his own trio, Garland played with some of the most influential jazz musicians of the time, including Charlie Parker, Lester Young, and Coleman Hawkins.
