The Bates

German punk rock band

The Bates were a German punk rock band that formed in Eschwege, Germany, in 1987. They were known for their Ramones-style punk music and gained a following in the German punk scene. The band's lineup consisted of Zimbl (Markus Zimmer) on bass and vocals, Klube (Michael Rebbig) on guitar, Reb (Frank Rahm) on guitar, and Dully (Thomas Dullnig) on drums. They released several albums throughout their career, with a sound that evolved from raw punk to more melodic pop-punk. The Bates were also known for their cover versions of famous songs from various genres. The band disbanded in 2001 after the death of lead singer Zimbl. While they never achieved major international success, they maintained a loyal fan base and are remembered for their contributions to the German punk scene.
