John Paul White is an American singer-songwriter and musician from Loretto, Tennessee, who first gained prominence as one half of the Grammy Award-winning folk duo The Civil Wars. After the duo went on hiatus in 2012 and subsequently disbanded, White embarked on a solo career. His solo work includes the albums "Beulah" (2016) and "The Hurting Kind" (2019). "Beulah" marked his return to recording after a period of stepping away from the spotlight, showcasing his evocative songwriting and Southern Gothic style. "The Hurting Kind" continued to build on his solo career with a collection of songs that drew inspiration from classic Nashville sounds and 1960s countrypolitan music.
