Black Francis, also known as Frank Black, is the stage name of Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV, an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist. He is best known as the frontman of the influential alternative rock band Pixies, which he co-founded in 1986. After the band's initial breakup in 1993, Black Francis embarked on a solo career under the name Frank Black, releasing several albums that explored different musical styles and showcased his eclectic songwriting.
