"Stella" is the fourth album by the Swiss electronic group Yello, released in 1985. With this album, the group celebrated its international breakthrough, which was largely due to the song "Oh Yeah", which was used in the youth film classic "Ferris macht blau" and two years later in the film "Das Geheimnis meines Erfolges". During the recording process, Boris Blank and Dieter Meier moved away from the experimental sound towards commercial synth pop and film soundtracks. Recorded in their own Yello studio on the shores of Lake Zurich, the duo used classic electronic equipment: a Yamaha DX7 and JX- 3P, a Fairlight CMI Series II sampler along with an ARP Odyssey synthesizer, Linn LM-1 and Oberheim DMX drum machines, a Roland VP-330 Plus vocoder and more. The track "Stella" originally spawned two singles. "Vicious Games" was accompanied by a music video filmed at Rote Fabrik. The second single "Desire" was accompanied by a music video filmed in Havana that captures the Latin sound of the song. After the success of "Oh Yeah" in the movies, it was also released as a single in 1987.
