While most great rock albums rely on energy, At Fillmore East is more akin to a great jazz concert. It primarily conveys the fun that the musicians involved had on stage together during those three nights of concerts in March 1971. The amazing thing about this album, however, which has brought the Allmans so much acclaim, is that it not only offers the best rock music, but is also incredibly well produced. Tom Dowd, who also recorded the Allman Brothers' second studio album, was on hand with a 16-track tape recorder to capture the band - in an unusual lineup with two solo guitarists and two drummers. The Allman Brothers Band's eight important albums from 1969-1979 are now out on 180-gram vinyl and have been remastered from the original analog tapes. They are: the expanded 2LP edition of The Allman Brothers Band (including the original 1969 stereo mix and the 1973 stereo mix of Beginnings) Idlewild South 1LP; At Fillmore East 2LP; Eat A Peach 2LP; Win, Lose or Draw 1LP; Wipe the Windows, Check the Oil, Dollar Gas 2LP; Enlightened Rogues 1LP; and Live At Ludlow Garage: 1970 first as a 3LP containing. including the track "In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed", which was included in last year's Super Deluxe Edition for Idlewild South's 45th Anniversary. The Brothers & Sisters 1LP, which was released in 2013 as part of the album's reissue, is still available. The album was mastered to 192 kHz / 24-bit audio by Kevin Reeves (Brothers & Sisters, The Fillmore East Recordings 1971) and cut to copper discs using an Abbey Road Mastering Direct Metal Mastering (DMM) lathe.
