One of the most experimental bands in rock history, Talking Heads drew on funk, minimalism, African and Brazilian music to expand a new sound that was both visionary and haunting. They have always been challenging and inventive, using infectious rhythms as a form of magic to introduce their ever-expanding audience to exotic influences from faraway lands they would never have heard otherwise. Together with Peter Gabriel and Brian Eno, they set the stage for the world music phenomenon of the 1980s and beyond. They also created a number of highly original works, crowned by albums like Fear of Music and Remain in Light, that didn't so much appropriate their sources as reimagine them into something that felt surprisingly new and incredibly accessible.
