The post-punk milestone returns in its pure form on CD and vinyl. "Daydream Nation" was SONIC YOUTH's sixth album, their first double album and their last on an independent label before switching to Geffen. Widely considered a breakthrough album, it catapulted the band into the mainstream and proved that independent bands could achieve widespread commercial success without abandoning their artistic vision. Today, its status as a classic is well documented: Pitchfork named "Daydream Nation" No. 1 on its "100 Greatest Albums of the 1980s" list; Spin awarded it No. 13 on its "125 Best Albums of 1985-210" list; Rolling Stone ranked it No. 45 on its "100 Best Albums of the Eighties" list and No. 328 on its "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list. The U.S. Library of Congress selected this album as one of 50 to be included in the National Recording Registry in 2006. An expanded 4LP box set was released in 2007, but now the album is finally returning in its original glory after being out of print for far too long.
