Everything in flux: "The Endless River" by Pink Floyd With their new studio album "The Endless River", Pink Floyd, whose core members are David Gilmour and Nick Mason, return to the world. At the same time, they announced that "The Endless River" will definitely be the last Pink Floyd album. Fan anticipation grew as promotion increased: what was first announced by an "innocent" tweet from Gilmour's wife Polly Samson in July 2014 reached a temporary peak on September 22, 2014, when the works were unveiled on mega-posters on buildings in ten cities around the world. The new album "The Endless River" has its roots in the genesis of Pink Floyd's previous album. David Gilmour, Nick Mason and - at the time - Rick Wright recorded the music during "The Division Bell" sessions in 1993, which resulted in the 1994 album of the same name. There were still 20 hours of unused material left with music by all three. Gilmour and Mason culled portions of it, which have now become "The Endless River". The title - Pink Floyd fans know this, of course - comes from the last line of the last song "High Hopes" on "The Division Bell" album. It's been 20 years since then. With "The Endless River," Gilmour and Mason officially announce Pink Floyd's final album. David Gilmour stresses that this is an album firmly rooted in the 21st century. With the help of state-of-the-art studio technology, new and additional parts were recorded to add to the parts recorded in 1993. The result is a work that will never exist again because Rick Wright is missing. Gilmour and Mason are confident that "The Endless River" would have made him happy. They want to create a posthumous musical memorial to him to show the world that he was an exceptional musician and represented the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. In addition, the new CD makes available the remaining repertoire that the trio created more than 20 years ago but has not yet been released.
