The legendary singer-songwriter produced the LP with Roy Hale, with whom he has collaborated since the 1960s. The guest musicians who appear in the tracks are among the top musicians in the music scene. With their support, the author dresses ten of his favourite songs in new sonic garb and surprises listeners with exciting new interpretations of each title. For "In The Blue Light", Paul Simon has selected songs originally released on the following albums: "There Goes Rhymin' Simon" (1973), "Still Crazy After All These Years" (1975), "One-Trick Pony" (1980), "Hearts and Bones" (1983), "The Rhythm of The Saints" (1990), "You're The One" (2000) and "So Beautiful Or So What" (2011). The album "In The Blue Light" features guest appearances by jazz stars Wynton Marsalis (trumpet), Bill Frisell (guitar) and Jack DeJohnette and Steve Gadd (both drums). The songs "Can't Run But" and "Rene and Georgette Magritte with Their Dog After the War" were recorded with six members of the New York chamber ensemble yMusic, which is currently accompanying Paul Simon on his "Farewell Tour". In the liner notes, Paul Simon explains, "It's not every day that you as an artist get the opportunity to rework, revise and even change entire sections of your original songs." "I took advantage of this opportunity, which also allowed me to play with exceptional musicians who had never worked on any of my recordings before. I hope I've managed to breathe new life into the songs, just like giving an old apartment building a new coat of paint."
