On Parole was the band's first album to feature Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor on drums. It was also the band's first album to feature Lemmy Kilmister singing and playing bass guitar. The album was a critical and commercial success, reaching number 48 in the UK Albums Chart. The first single from the album, "Motorhead", reached number 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The second single from the album, "Too Late, Too Late", charted at number 38 on the UK Singles Chart. The album was praised by critics, with AllMusic calling it "a groundbreaking album in heavy metal history". The album has been cited as an influence by many bands, including Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth.
