The rare combination of Paddy Kelly Just a year ago, Michael Patrick Kelly launched his comeback and released "Human", his first album in 12 years. The Irish-American folk singer, who reaped great success as a member of the Kelly Family in the mid-1990s, remains creative in 2016. "Ruah" is the title of his new album. "Ruah" is a Hebrew term and means something like "spirit" and "breath of life". The title says it all as it is a spiritual pop album. Kelly was inspired by his faith, which he found years ago on a pilgrimage. He then went to a monastery for several years where he wrote many of the songs for "Ruah". However, if you are expecting classical temple music, you are mistaken. Instead of organ sounds there is honest singer-songwriter pop with influences of rock, blues and soul. Yet faith is always the focus of the eleven original songs. The swinging title track "Ruah" speaks well of this. The singer-songwriter will embark on a charity tour of Germany and Austria, where he will perform his new songs and a few old ones at various venues.
