New studio album: 'Strut' by Lenny Kravitz After a three-year hiatus, Lenny Kravitz releases a new studio album "Strut". It was created quickly and from the ground up. With the song "Strut", Kravitz returns to the roots of music for herself. The superstar returns to rock'n'roll with soul, tackling the theme of longing with all its facets. These are feelings Kravitz - as he puts it - last felt when he was still in high school. They allow him to rediscover the originality of his music. Lenny Kravitz got the inspiration for his new album "Strut" during the filming of "The Hunger Games - Catching Fire". The filming was stimulating and exhausting, so he had all sorts of musical ideas running through his head to balance his soul. Kravitz actually had other things on his mind at the time than making a record. After a few weeks, however, he realized he had to get into the studio as soon as possible. It just radiated from him. Pure instinct and inspiration. Lenny Kravitz maintained this instinctive approach when he was in the studio for "Strut". He named the songs intuitively as soon as he recorded the basic tracks. Even when subsequently writing lyrics, Kravitz did not rename the songs, which brought interesting twists to some of the songs. For example, the song "Happy Birthday" was originally born out of an "I don't give a shit about you" attitude and has now become one of Lenny Kravitz's birthday songs (in the tradition of Beatles and Stevie Wonder songs). The basic idea of the eponymous song was "Frankenstein", who is a lovable character but also a monster. However, the lyrics of the song tell a rather metaphorical story of misunderstood love. With titles like "Sex" and the cover of "The Chamber", Lenny Kravitz stays true to his sexy image as a fresh-faced 50-year-old. "Strut" by Lenny Kravitz is pure rock'n'roll of the soulful type. The multi-instrumentalist recorded the vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards, drums and percussion himself in the studio. He was supported by Craig Ross (guitars), Tom 'Bone' Edmonds as sound engineer, Ludovic Louis (trumpet), Harold Todd (saxophone) and Cindy Mizelle, Tawatha Agee and James 'D Train' Williams as backing vocalists. A special feature of "Strut" is that it was mixed by the legendary Bob Clearmountain. Kravitz wanted a bold, spacey and cinematic sound for the new album. Clearmountain was his man and immediately agreed. The result is exactly what Lenny Kravitz intuitively wanted without being able to name it specifically. Kravitz will soon embark on a worldwide tour with the song "Strut" and will play five concerts in Germany in November 2014. Lenny Kravitz with his tenth studio album "Strut". Born from the gut.
