James Morrison's 2006 debut album became one of the best-selling debut albums in the UK that year, gave the world five successful singles, sold over two million and helped propel the then twenty-one-year-old Englishman from Derby, owner of a unique soul voice, to stardom, performing with his beloved Cat Stevens and appearing on Concert for Diana. On the new album, the subjects of the new songs are once again his loved ones. "I called the album Songs for You, Truths for Me because I find it most apt. They are songs for my friend Gill, who I missed so much on tour, but also for other people. The song Love is Hard is one of three where the word love is in the title. I never thought I'd write it that way, but that's how I felt. This record is such a collection of truths that I realized last year." The new album features most of the collaborators from his previous album (Martin Brammer, Steve Robson and Eg White), with new additions Ryan Tedder from One Republic and Nelly Furtado in the amazing duet Broken Strings.
