Iron Maiden : The Book of Souls is the sixteenth studio album by English heavy metal band Iron Maiden , released on 4 September 2015. It is the band's first studio album in five years and the first with new singer Bruce Dickinson since 1992's Fear of the Dark. The album was recorded in Paris, France at Guillaume Tell Studios in late 2014 and early 2015. The album's title track was released as a single on 17 July 2015. The album was promoted by the Book of Souls World Tour, which began in February 2016. The album was met with mostly positive reviews from music critics. On Metacritic, which assigns a standard rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album received an average score of 78, which is a "generally favorable rating" based on 9 reviews. Eduardo Rivadavia of AllMusic gave the album 4.5 stars out of 5, stating that "The Book of Souls is an extremely ambitious and ultimately triumphant heavy metal album from a band that is still going strong after more than three decades of recording and touring". Kerrang! gave the album 5 stars out of 5, stating that "The Book
