"Dream Theater: The Number Of The Beast" is a live album recorded by the American progressive metal band Dream Theater. Released in 2002, this album is a track-by-track cover of the entire "The Number of the Beast" album originally by the British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Dream Theater's rendition was performed and recorded at La Mutualité in Paris, France, on October 25, 2002, as a part of a special fan club-only show where they played classic albums in their entirety. The album showcases Dream Theater's technical proficiency and musical versatility as they pay homage to one of their influences. It includes iconic Iron Maiden tracks such as "Children Of The Damned," "The Number Of The Beast," "Run To The Hills," and "Hallowed Be Thy Name," along with other songs from the original 1982 release like "Invaders," "The Prisoner," "Gangland," and "22, Acacia Avenue." This release is a testament to Dream Theater's ability to not only compose complex original material but also to skillfully recreate classic metal anthems with precision and passion.
