Exodus is an album by Bob Marley & The Wailers , released in 1977. It was the group's fifth album and third released on Island Records. The album was recorded in London and produced by Chris Blackwell and Bob Marley. Exodus reached number 20 on the Billboard 200 and number 15 on the UK Albums Chart. In 2001, it received a gold certificate from the Recording Industry Association of America. The album's title track, "Exodus", was released as a single and reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. Other singles from the album were "Waiting in Vain" and "Jamming". The album Exodus was well received by critics. In a review for Rolling Stone magazine, Jon Pareles called it "a groundbreaking album, one of the most important statements of Jamaican music and Rastafarian faith". Exodus is considered a classic reggae album and has cited many artists as influences, including U2, The Police and The Clash.
