All Or Nothing At All collects twelve of the best titles Billie Holiday released on the Verve label in the mid-1950s. Her association with producer Norman Granz ended in January 1957. On this collection, released in 1955, Holiday once again showcases why she was able to get so close to her listeners. She lets her emotions flow gently throughout each song and throughout the set, alternating between her interpretation. In this way, she reflects the complex emotional states we all succumb to time and time again. According to Nate Hentoff, who wrote the accompanying liner notes, this is why you can listen to Holiday's albums over and over again and still always discover new meanings. She's backed by a top-notch band that includes Harry "Sweets" Eddison, Barney Kessel, Ben Webster and Jimmy Rowles, among others. A gem in monochrome! This recording is part of a series of 25 Verve reissues released by Analogue Productions.
