It was her first album to be released in two years since her 2004 debut album Let Go. Lavigne has stated that the album is "rockier" than her previous material. The album debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart, selling more than 290,000 copies in its first week, and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of more than one million copies. The album also debuted at number one in Australia, Canada, Japan and the UK. Since 2013, the album has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.
