Toyah Willcox, known mononymously as Toyah, is an English musician, singer, songwriter, actress, producer and author. Born on May 18, 1958, in Birmingham, England, she first gained recognition fronting the band Toyah before embarking on a solo career. Her music spans several genres including punk rock, new wave, and alternative rock. Toyah achieved considerable success in the UK during the late 1970s and 1980s with hits such as "It's a Mystery," "Thunder in the Mountains," and "I Want to Be Free," which contributed to her becoming an iconic figure of the British music scene.
