The Psychedelic Furs are a British post-punk band that was formed in 1977 by brothers Richard Butler on vocals and Tim Butler on bass guitar. The band's sound, characterized by a blend of punk rock and art rock influences, quickly established them as a significant presence in the post-punk and new wave scenes. Their self-titled debut album was released in 1980, and they gained increasing attention with the release of their second album, "Talk Talk Talk," which included the single "Pretty in Pink." This song later inspired the 1986 John Hughes film of the same name, further cementing the band's influence on pop culture.
