Bonnie Tyler is a Welsh singer, known for her distinctive husky voice, who rose to prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s. Born on June 8, 1951, as Gaynor Hopkins in Skewen, Wales, she first entered the music scene with the release of her debut single "Lost in France" in 1976. Her career skyrocketed with the release of "It's a Heartache" in 1977, which became a hit on both sides of the Atlantic. However, it was her collaboration with songwriter and producer Jim Steinman that led to her most iconic hit, "Total Eclipse of the Heart," from the album "Faster Than The Speed Of Night" in 1983. This album not only solidified her status as a music icon but also earned her a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.
