Amy Winehouse was a British singer-songwriter known for her deep, expressive contralto vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres, including soul, rhythm and blues, and jazz. Winehouse's career was marked by critical and commercial success as well as struggles with substance abuse and personal demons. Her 2003 debut album, "Frank," was critically acclaimed and earned her a Mercury Prize nomination. However, it was her 2006 follow-up album, "Back to Black," that catapulted her to international fame. The album won five Grammy Awards, making Winehouse the first British woman to win five Grammys in a single night, including three of the "Big Four": Best New Artist, Record of the Year and Song of the Year for the hit single "Rehab."
