Big Time

Big Time was a label based in Sydney, Australia. Owned by Fred Bestall who managed Air Supply in their early days, amongst others. There were regional branches with offices in London and L.A. publishing as Big Time Records (UK) LTD and Big Time Records (America) Inc., and the entity Big Time Records is frequently used as a catch-all for company credit roles. From 1979 up to 1981 Big Time Phonograph Recording Co. was distributed by Wizard Records (5) which was purchased by EMI (Australia) Limited ca. 1981. and re-branded as Big Time. In Australia, 1987/88 distribution moved to BMG and releases were branded more often with RCA, BMG & Big Time simultaneously; in the US & perhaps Canada, RCA began manufacturing/distributing/marketing Big Time releases in October 1986. Label reactivated in 2018 by new owners Hoodoo Gurus for their distribution contract with Universal Music Australia starting in 2018
