The use of a stylus pad certainly improves the sound colour of the turntable, but you should bear in mind that the pressure on the stylus and its traction can be affected by the use of any stylus pad.
If you are going to use a new turntable pad, we recommend checking the stylus pressure and traction. Use a setting template (freely available for download on the internet) or a protractor and possibly a stylus pressure gauge to do this.
