X is an American punk rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1977. The core lineup consists of vocalist Exene Cervenka, vocalist/bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom, and drummer DJ Bonebrake. They were a major force in the punk movement on the West Coast of the United States, with their music incorporating rockabilly and other genres, which gave them a unique sound within the punk domain. X quickly established themselves in the burgeoning LA punk scene and became one of its leading bands.
