Vuur is a Dutch progressive metal band formed by vocalist Anneke van Giersbergen, known for her previous work with the band The Gathering and for her extensive collaborations with other artists within the rock and metal genres. The band was established in 2016, and their name, which means "fire" in Dutch, reflects the energy and drive behind their music. Vuur's style is characterized by heavy guitar riffs, atmospheric elements, and Anneke's dynamic vocal range. Their debut album, "In This Moment We Are Free - Cities," was released in 2017 and features songs inspired by various cities around the world that have impacted Anneke during her tours. The album received positive reviews for its powerful soundscapes and intricate compositions. Vuur has since been active in the progressive metal scene, touring and performing at various festivals and venues.
