Sonny Rollins is a legendary American jazz tenor saxophonist, widely recognized as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians in history. Born on September 7, 1930, in New York City, Rollins began his career as a teenager in the mid-1940s and quickly established himself as a talented and innovative musician. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, he worked with many other jazz greats, including Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, and Max Roach.
