Rory Block is an American blues guitarist and singer, renowned for her expertise in traditional country blues. Born on November 6, 1949, as Aurora Block, she grew up in a family deeply immersed in the folk music scene. Her father owned a Greenwich Village sandal shop where many prominent folk and blues musicians would gather, which allowed her to absorb the influences of artists like Mississippi John Hurt and Reverend Gary Davis from a young age.
