Nik Bärtsch is a Swiss pianist, composer, and producer known for his distinctive style that blends elements of jazz, classical, and funk music. Born on August 3, 1971, in Zurich, Switzerland, Bärtsch began playing piano at an early age and later studied at the Zurich University of the Arts. He is best known for his work with his band Ronin, which he founded in 2001. The band's name is derived from the Japanese word for a samurai without a master, reflecting Bärtsch's interest in both the discipline and freedom inherent in music.
