Japanese Pop Singer-Songwriter

Miho Fukui is a Japanese bassoonist. She received her first bassoon lessons at the age of twelve and later enteered the class of Yoshihide Kiryu at Tokyo University of Arts' Graduate School of Music. During her studies, Miho koined the Bach Cantata Ensemble under the direction of Michio Kobayashi, where she familiarized herself with playing the basso continuo on a modern bassoon. Upon graduation, Miho moved to Europe, where she continued her studies with Volker Tessmann in Lübeck and Metthew Wilkie in Frankfurt. She began to focus on the Baroque period while studying in the chamber music class of Michael Schneider in Frankfurt, and in 2003 she enrolled in the graduate courses with Donna Agrell (baroque and classical bassoon) and Josep Borràs (dulcian) at the Schole Cantorum in Basel, Switzerland. Between 2008 and 2009 she completed a postgraduate course for modern bassoon in the class of Sergio Azzolini at the City of Basel Music Academy. Since 2014, Miho receives instruction in baroque oboe from Carole Wiesmann at the Schola Cantorum. Miho participated in master classes at the International Handel Academy in 2015 and at the Insitute for Early Music at Mozarteum University's "Insbruck Baroque" under the direction of Alfredo Bernardini (2016) and Andreas Helm (2017). Miho Fukui is in demand internationally as a perfomer and plays baroque and modern bassoon in various ensembles and orchestras in Switzerland, Japan and Germany. In 2008 Miho was selected by the Capriccio Baroque Orchestra Basel as the soloist in Joseph Haydn's "Sinfonia concertante in B-flat major Hob. I:105". In 2010 she recorded the "Sinfonia in B-flat major for 2 Bassoons and Strings" by early classical composer Johann Wilhelm Hertel together with Sergio Azzolini and the Capriccio Baroque Orchestra. In 2009, Miho founded the Ensemble F, which is primarily devoted to the performance of Antonio Vivaldi's bassoon concertos.
