Feminist Electro-Punk Trio

Le Tigre is an American electronic rock band from the late 1990s and early 2000s, known for their feminist lyrics and punk-influenced sound. The band was formed by Kathleen Hanna, formerly of the punk band Bikini Kill, along with Johanna Fateman and Sadie Benning; JD Samson later joined the group when Benning left in 2001. Le Tigre is recognized for blending punk's directness and politics with playful samples, eclectic pop melodies, and electronic beats. Their self-titled debut album "Le Tigre" was released in 1999 and became an underground hit, mixing politics with a punk-rock attitude and danceable beats. The band's music tackled issues such as feminism, LGBTQ rights, and the mainstream music industry. They continued to release albums and tour internationally until they went on hiatus in the mid-2000s. Despite their hiatus, Le Tigre's influence has persisted in alternative music circles, and they are often cited as pioneers of the electroclash movement.
