Mississippi Hill Country Blues Legend

Junior Kimbrough was an influential American blues musician, renowned for his hypnotic, rhythmic guitar playing and soulful vocal style. Born David Kimbrough on July 28, 1930, in Hudsonville, Mississippi, he spent most of his life in the hill country of northern Mississippi. Kimbrough's music is characterized by its raw, unpolished sound and repetitive groove-oriented framework, which has been described as "hypnotic boogie." Although he was active in music from the 1960s, it wasn't until the 1990s that his work began to reach a wider audience.
