Jack DeJohnette is an American jazz drummer, pianist, and composer, widely regarded as one of the most influential jazz musicians of the late 20th century. Born on August 9, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, DeJohnette's versatile style has allowed him to play across a wide range of jazz genres including avant-garde, bebop, free jazz, and fusion. He first became widely known in the jazz world in the late 1960s for his work with the Charles Lloyd Quartet, a group that achieved considerable popularity.
