Austrian Harpsichordist and Pianist

Isolde Ahlgrimm (1914–1995) was an Austrian harpsichordist and pianist, particularly known for her interpretations of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Born in Vienna, she was a pioneer in the revival of Baroque and early Classical keyboard music. Ahlgrimm's approach to performance practice was informed by historical research, and she played a significant role in the movement towards using period instruments and techniques. She began her career as a concert pianist but shifted her focus to the harpsichord in the 1930s after encountering the instrument in a concert.
