I-DEF-I

I-DEF-I

British Alternative Metal Band

Manchester based metal band i-(def)-i began 2003 with a killer show at Manchester's Roadhouse. Following this show the band were offered the support slot for Stone Sour at the Academy in Birmingham on February 21st, an impressive acheivement for an unsigned band. The band used this awesome gig to launch the debut EP recorded with One Minute Silence/Defenestration producer Mark Daghorn at New Rising Studios in Essex. I-def-I was born in the summer of 2001, when Tom approached Chris to put vocals on some tracks he had been working on (which became Lost and Drag). With the results sounding pretty cool the pair decided to form a band and recruited Mel (an old friend of Chris) to play drums. Mutual friend Kev was also approached to play bass and the band began rehearsing in early October at apocalypse studio in bury. The band worked hard for the next couple of months and by December they were ready to record their first EP, however lacking any kind of finances the session recorded by Tommy Gleeson took place over three days at Mel's house using a portable 16 track. 'Lost', 'Severed', 'My Desire' and 'Circles' were recorded and later released at the bands first live performance at the Star and Garter in Manchester in March 2002. The first gig proved to be a huge success and the band quickly followed up this performance with a series of gigs across the north-west including support slots with Stoopi, Landmine Spring and Dog Toffee and a number of headlining gigs in Manchester. The first EP quickly sold out and 'Lost' made the play-list in local metal venues The Ritz, Rockworld and Satan's Hollow. Meanwhile the band continued to work on new material and tried to find a way to finance the recording of a new EP. Fortunately a copy of the first demo had found it's way to producer Mark Daghorn (One Minute Silence, Defenestration) who brought the band in for a week long session at New Rising Studios in Essex in September 2002. Tracks 'Far Side of Nothing', 'Circles', 'Sour' and 'Will you' were recorded and the results can be heard in the NOISE section....
