Horacio Gutiérrez is a Cuban-American classical pianist renowned for his powerful technique and thoughtful interpretations, particularly in the Romantic repertoire. Born on June 28, 1948, in Havana, Cuba, he began his piano studies at an early age before his family moved to the United States when he was a child. Gutiérrez gained prominence after winning the Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow in 1970, which launched his international career.
