Helstar is an American heavy metal band that was formed in Houston, Texas in 1982. They are recognized as one of the early pioneers of the American power metal movement. The band was founded by vocalist James Rivera and guitarist Larry Barragan, who are considered the mainstays of the group. Throughout their career, Helstar has undergone numerous lineup changes but has consistently delivered a blend of heavy metal that often incorporates elements of thrash and progressive metal.
