The Goo Goo Dolls are an American rock band formed in 1986 in Buffalo, New York. The band consists of founding members John Rzeznik (guitarist and vocalist) and Robby Takac (bassist and vocalist), along with their later addition, drummer Mike Malinin, who was with the band from 1995 to 2013. They first gained major popularity with their fifth studio album, "A Boy Named Goo" (1995), which produced the hit single "Name." Their next album, "Dizzy Up the Girl" (1998), brought even more success with the release of the single "Iris," which was originally written for the soundtrack of the movie "City of Angels" and became one of their signature songs.
