Classical Oboist and Composer

Giuseppe Ferlendis (1755–1802) was an Italian oboist and composer from the Classical era. Not much is known about his life, but he is recognized for his contributions to the oboe repertoire. Ferlendis was active in the latter half of the 18th century and held the position of first oboist at the court of Salzburg, where he worked under the patronage of the Archbishop Colloredo. His tenure in Salzburg is notable because it coincided with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's time there. In fact, Mozart composed his Oboe Concerto in C major, K. 314 for Ferlendis in 1777.
