Indie Folk-Rock Band

Fruit Bats is an American indie folk band formed in 1997 in Chicago, Illinois. The project began as the brainchild of Eric D. Johnson, who is the band's singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Johnson started Fruit Bats while working as a teacher and doing recording sessions with other bands. Over the years, Fruit Bats has seen a rotating lineup of musicians for both recording sessions and live performances, with Johnson being the consistent core member.
