Explosions In The Sky is an American post-rock band hailing from Austin, Texas, known for their cinematic and evocative instrumental music. Formed in 1999, the band consists of members Mark Smith, Michael James, Munaf Rayani, and Chris Hrasky. They quickly gained recognition in the post-rock genre with their debut album "How Strange, Innocence" (2000) and followed up with the critically acclaimed "Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever" in 2001. Their third album, "The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place" (2003), is often considered a landmark in post-rock music and solidified their reputation for crafting emotionally charged soundscapes.
