Eloy

German progressive rock band

Eloy is a German progressive rock band, whose musical style includes symphonic and space rock elements. Founded in 1969 by guitarist Frank Bornemann, the band's name was inspired by the Eloi race from H.G. Wells' novel "The Time Machine." Eloy gained popularity in the 1970s and 1980s with a series of concept albums that showcased their distinctive blend of atmospheric synthesizers, intricate guitar work, and philosophical lyrics. Albums like "Ocean" (1977), which is often considered one of their masterpieces, helped to cement their status within the progressive rock community. The album is a thematic exploration of the legend of Atlantis and features lush soundscapes and complex compositions.
